The updated version of House Bill 920 includes a clearer timeline for implementing transportation safety requirements for charter schools. Instead of setting a deadline of December 31, 2021, for these safety requirements, the new version requests the State Board of Education to adopt them no later than the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. This change matters because it allows additional time for charter schools to prepare and align their transportation programs with the new safety standards, ultimately aiming for enhanced student safety.
