The revised version of Senate Bill 451 includes a few noteworthy changes primarily involving definitions and specific provisions related to single-use plastics. Notably, there are new phrases added that clarify what is meant by "compostable," "recyclable," and "reusable," which could help consumers and businesses better understand the types of materials they can use. This is important as it promotes environmental awareness and encourages more sustainable practices in areas close to North Carolina's barrier islands, ultimately aiming to protect these delicate ecosystems. Additionally, it updates terms to make the bill clearer for retailers and consumers alike.
