The latest version of HB 896 clarifies that insurers in North Carolina must reimburse contracted pharmacists directly for their services, regardless of whether these pharmacists are part of the insurer's network. Additionally, it emphasizes that merely participating in a drug benefit network does not automatically qualify pharmacists for inclusion in medical benefit networks. These changes are important because they aim to ensure that pharmacists can be compensated fairly for their services, thus potentially improving access to healthcare and encouraging more pharmacists to participate in providing care to patients.
