The recent amendments to Bill SB 192 involve changes that clarify the authority of the Marine Resources Commission in conveying easements and interests in certain coastal properties to the City of Norfolk. Specifically, it now authorizes these actions as part of Norfolk's Coastal Storm Risk Management Project, which is aimed at enhancing the city's resilience against flooding and coastal storms. This change is significant because it facilitates the city's ability to implement important environmental protections and infrastructure improvements that can ultimately safeguard local communities from climate-related risks.
