Plain-language change summary

The recent changes to Bill SB 413 mainly focus on the provisions for how justices, judges, and justices of the peace can declare their candidacy for retention elections. Specifically, the amendment clarifies the timing for filing this declaration. Additionally, the original bill included proposed changes related to absentee voting, which have been removed in the updated version. This simplification means that the bill is now solely focused on judicial tenure, making its purpose clearer for lawmakers and the public.
