Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 60 makes significant changes to the definitions of offenses related to human trafficking. It raises the severity of penalties by classifying trafficking in individuals and patronizing victims of sexual servitude as felonies of the first degree, rather than second degree, reflecting a stronger stance against these crimes. Additionally, the language clarifies the conditions under which individuals can be prosecuted, enhancing legal protections for victims. These changes are important as they aim to deter trafficking and ensure more robust accountability for offenders.
