What changed in the latest version
15 added · 17 removedPlain-language change summary
The revised bill includes a new provision that allows the Department of Agriculture to provide grants of up to $3,000 for succession planning to help maintain agricultural operations on conserved farmland. Previously, the bill allowed for grants of up to $5,000, but this amount has been reduced. The changes aim to prioritize the awarding of grants to counties while also establishing clear criteria for eligibility. This matters because it adjusts funding availability for farmers seeking to ensure the continuity of their agricultural businesses on protected land.
