The recent changes to House Bill 488 include an addition that focuses on ensuring direct support personnel receive wage increases that align with current state employee salaries. The bill mandates that managed care organizations (LME/MCOs) use any additional funding specifically for these wage increases, and it requires service providers to verify that the funds are being used appropriately. This change is significant because it aims to improve compensation for essential workers in the developmental services field, potentially leading to better staff retention and quality of care for individuals needing support.
