The recent amendment to Bill HB 344 clarified the process for notifying lienholders about towed vehicles. Specifically, it added that law enforcement must inform lienholders via first-class mail as soon as practical, but no later than 24 hours after getting the necessary information. This change is important because it helps protect the rights of lienholders, ensuring they are quickly informed so they can retrieve their vehicles, while also streamlining communication between law enforcement and lienholders.
