The recent amendment to Bill SB 392 includes a new provision that designates the Superintendent of Public Instruction as the elected representative authorized to approve bonds for financing charter school facilities. This means that after a public hearing, the Superintendent can give the go-ahead for these financial agreements, which could help charter schools secure necessary funding for their operations. This change matters because it streamlines the approval process for charter school financing and ensures that public input is part of the decision-making process.
