The recent amendments to Bill SB 377 removed a proposed three-year moratorium on issuing permits for wind energy facilities near military operations, which would have suspended any new construction in high-impact areas. Instead, the bill now includes a provision for military representation in the permit process through a designated officer to ensure military interests are considered. This change emphasizes collaboration with military installations without outright halting renewable energy development, making it possible for both wind energy progress and military operations to coexist.
