The updated version of SB 174 includes a new section for definitions related to the Equal Pay Act, specifically clarifying who qualifies as an employee. This change is significant because it helps ensure that all individuals receiving compensation for their work are explicitly recognized under the law, promoting fair pay practices. By detailing definitions, the bill aims to provide clearer guidelines for enforcing equal pay standards in North Carolina. This clarity can help workers better understand their rights and employers understand their obligations.
