The amendment to Bill HB 508 removes a specific phrase that required members of the county board of elections to pledge to execute their duties faithfully. This change simplifies the oath while keeping the core commitment to supporting the Constitution and the state authority intact. It matters because it streamlines the process for new members taking office, potentially making it easier for them to fulfill their roles without the burden of additional wording in their oath.
