Plain-language change summary

The amendments to House Bill 677 clarify the process for appointing judges to a three-judge panel in cases challenging the validity of state laws in Wake County. The revised bill now allows the Chief Justice to appoint judges from the same judicial divisions rather than requiring them to be from different regions of the state. This change simplifies the selection process for judges, which could lead to quicker resolutions for these legal challenges. Overall, this adjustment is significant as it aims to streamline the judicial review process for important legislative issues.
