Plain-language change summary

The latest version of Bill HB 58 has added a list of primary sponsors and clarified the law regarding how a member's "Final Average Salary" is determined. It specifies that the calculation should consider the two highest consecutive years of salary over the last five years of service or the average from the last 104 weeks worked, ensuring that unused sick and vacation day payments, as well as longevity pay, are included under certain conditions. This change is significant because it aims to provide a fairer calculation for retirement benefits, which can impact the financial security of public employees in Charlotte.
