Plain-language change summary

The recent changes to House Bill 577 clarify the provisions regarding fees for conducting criminal record checks. Specifically, they ensure that the fees charged will only cover the actual costs associated with the process, like searching and retrieving information. This matters because it protects individuals from potentially excessive fees and ensures that the system is fair and transparent. The effective date for the bill remains the same: October 1, 2017.
