Plain-language change summary

The amendments to House Bill 155 include specific enhancements to the requirements for continuing licensure of teachers in North Carolina. Notably, the new language clarifies that all teachers must complete at least eight continuing education credits, with a focus on their academic subject area, and elementary and middle school teachers must also take additional credits related to literacy. This change matters because it emphasizes the importance of literacy skills and aims to ensure that teachers have the necessary training to effectively support students who struggle with reading.
