In the latest version of Bill SB 343, two significant changes were made regarding workers' rights related to urban search and rescue teams. Firstly, the bill now specifies that members of these teams will have the same rights and benefits under specific chapters of the Revised Code, ensuring they are treated equitably while performing their duties both inside and outside their political subdivisions. Additionally, it clarifies the definitions related to injuries and occupational diseases, further detailing what constitutes an employee within the emergency management framework. These amendments are important as they reinforce protections for rescue workers, recognizing their critical role and ensuring they receive necessary support and benefits.
