Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 1122 adds a new section to the School Code that prohibits the establishment of student booking stations on school grounds. This change safeguards students by ensuring that schools do not become places for booking or detaining students, which helps to prioritize their welfare and creates a more supportive environment. While law enforcement and security can still operate within schools, this amendment emphasizes that schools should not function as detention centers. This matters because it aims to protect students from potential negative experiences associated with booking stations while allowing necessary law enforcement activity to continue.
