Plain-language change summary

The proposed amendment to SB 2822 introduces a new section that exempts private religious institutions from certain state education regulations. This change aims to reduce government involvement in religious education and recognizes the rights of these institutions and their community members—students and faculty—to operate according to their religious missions. It also highlights the intent to lessen state expenses linked to enforcing these regulations. This matters because it could impact students' understanding of their educational options and transferability of their credits, as these institutions will not have to meet the same standards as other educational institutions.
