The revised version of SB 1780 adds provisions for the Office of the State Fire Marshal to oversee grants specifically aimed at helping areas not served by fire protection districts or municipalities. This change is significant because it helps ensure that these underserved areas receive financial support to establish their own fire protection services. Additionally, the bill clarifies that members of the Fire Fighting Medal of Honor Committee will not receive compensation but will be reimbursed for their expenses, enhancing accountability and ensuring that funds are used wisely.
