The recently passed version of SB 163 has added new sections specifically addressing the regulation of artificial intelligence (AI) by requiring that AI-generated products carry a watermark, and explicitly prohibits simulated child pornography and identity fraud using replicas of people. These additions aim to enhance consumer protection and hold individuals accountable for misuse of AI technology. This matters because it aims to provide clearer guidelines for AI use, protect vulnerable populations, and ensure that individuals are not misled or harmed by fraudulent representations.
