Plain-language change summary

The amendment to HB 3169 updates the terminology used in the Children and Family Services Act, replacing references to "children who are wards" with the term "youth in care." This change is significant because it acknowledges and respects the current language used in child welfare, aiming to better represent the experiences of those placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services. By adopting more inclusive language, the law can foster a more understanding and supportive approach to the needs of these young individuals.
