Plain-language change summary

The updated version of HB 3262 introduces a new fund called the BHE Data and Research Cost Recovery Fund, allowing the Board of Higher Education to collect fees specifically for processing student-level data requests. This change is significant because it creates a dedicated source of funding for the costs associated with maintaining and improving data systems for individual students, ensuring that these systems remain up-to-date and effective. Furthermore, the amendment clarifies that no fees will be charged to entities required by state or federal law to report, making it fairer for those organizations.
