Plain-language change summary

The amended version of SB 1592 introduces provisions that establish a county board of election commissioners within the office of the county clerk, allowing it to be comprised of five members, with the county clerk serving as both a commissioner and chairman. Notably, this change makes it clear that counties without a prior city or town board of election commissioners established before January 1, 2017, can implement this new governance structure. This matters because it helps streamline the election process in counties, ensuring consistent oversight and accountability in local elections.
