The amended version of Senate Resolution 1534 shifts the focus from gas pipelines to gas well operations, reflecting a broader scope of regulation by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Additionally, it specifies that the report must include a thorough review of both gas extraction and underground gas storage. This change matters because it aims to enhance public safety by ensuring that regulations regarding all aspects of gas operations are examined and improved, ultimately protecting residents more effectively.
