The latest version of HB 5856 has added language to specify that toll highways can be used without paying a toll by vehicles owned or operated by Mass Transit Districts that are running regular scheduled service. This is important because it clearly defines the types of vehicles that can operate toll-free, ensuring that public transportation systems are supported and can function efficiently. The amendment also reinforces the original intent of past legislation regarding the use of toll revenue for highway construction, emphasizing the commitment to developing transportation infrastructure.
