The amendments to SB 3246 change the oversight of the Landowner Grant Program from the Department of Natural Resources to the Illinois Petroleum Resources Board. This shift means that the Board will now manage the program's funds, which include a maximum of $250,000 each year for landowner grants. This matters because it aims to streamline the administration of these funds, ensuring better accountability and potentially improved support for landowners involved in oil and gas activities.
