Plain-language change summary

The bill SB 2299 has been amended to change the rules regarding township officials in Illinois. The new version clarifies that township supervisors and trustees cannot hold another office or be employed in any other capacity within the township while serving, unless they resign from their elected position or are specifically allowed by law. This change is important because it aims to prevent conflicts of interest and ensure that elected officials remain focused on their duties without distraction from multiple roles within the same government entity.
