The amendment to SB 2084 clarifies the definition of "erroneous homestead exemption" and specifies how to categorize these exemptions based on eligibility. It now differentiates between exemptions granted for multiple properties or under different code sections, treating them as separate instances, which helps ensure more accurate property tax assessments. This change is important because it aims to prevent tax benefits from being given incorrectly, leading to fairer taxation practices.
