Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Bill SB 1008 includes updates to the Illinois Vehicle Code, specifically focusing on the annual study of diesel-powered vehicle emissions. It specifies that the Department of Transportation and the Department of State Police must conduct these studies annually and provide detailed reports on the number of vehicles inspected, as well as pass and fail rates. This change matters because it aims to enhance transparency on vehicle emissions, which can help inform environmental policies and improve air quality standards in Illinois.
