The amended version of SB 2644 allows for the issuance or renewal of liquor licenses at venues within 100 feet of certain schools in municipalities with populations over 1,000,000, provided that specific criteria are met. This change is significant because it could increase the number of establishments serving alcohol in densely populated areas, potentially boosting local businesses. However, it also raises questions about the impact on nearby schools and community safety.
