The recent amendment to HB 3961 introduces a standardized data compilation form provided by the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, replacing the previous requirement that it be provided by the University of Illinois. Additionally, it underscores the need for law enforcement agencies to compile and report data on the use of stun guns and tasers by specific deadlines, which will be analyzed and reported annually. This change aims to enhance the transparency and accountability of law enforcement practices, ensuring that data on the use of force is systematically gathered and reviewed.
