What changed in the latest version
12 added · 38 removedPlain-language change summary
The revised version of Bill HB 173 now explicitly states that local governments, including home rule units, cannot regulate the transportation of firearms and related items like ammunition and accessories. This amendment makes it clear that any existing local laws that impose restrictions on transporting firearms will be invalidated. This change is significant because it limits local governments' ability to create their own regulations in this area, potentially leading to more uniform firearm transportation laws across the state.
