The bill HB 4964 has been updated to change the date of the general primary election from the first Tuesday in February to the third Tuesday in March of even-numbered years. This change is important because it allows more time for candidates to prepare and for voters to engage with the election process, which could lead to higher voter turnout and better-informed choices. Additionally, the bill includes an increase in office allowances for legislators to cover various expenses related to their duties, ensuring they have adequate resources to perform their roles effectively.
