Plain-language change summary

The amendments made to Bill HB 3428 clarify the responsibilities of schools regarding opioid antagonists, which are medications that can reverse opioid overdoses. The changes specify that schools must make a reasonable effort to maintain a supply of these medications but also allow for the possibility of a shortage. Additionally, health care professionals can prescribe these medications in the name of the school to ensure they are available when needed. This is important because it enhances the ability of schools to respond effectively to drug overdoses, potentially saving lives.
