The changes to Bill HB 4643 include delaying the start date for a pilot program aimed at certifying direct support professionals from fiscal year 2024 to fiscal year 2025. Additionally, the timeline for a model educational program to train individuals for these roles has been pushed back to the 2026-2027 school year instead of 2025-2026. These adjustments mean that the state will take more time to prepare and implement the necessary training and credentialing programs, which is important for ensuring that qualified professionals are available to support individuals with mental health and developmental disabilities.
