Summary
Amends the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Defines "medical professional". Makes conforming changes. Effective immediately.

398 added · 416 removedPlain-language change summary
The amendments to HB 4139 introduce specific definitions for key medical professionals involved in determining disability benefits, including "advanced practice registered nurse," "clinical psychologist," and "health care professional." Previously, the bill did not specify which types of licensed professionals could diagnose conditions for disability claims. This change is important because it broadens the range of qualified professionals who can assess and certify an individual's eligibility for disability benefits, potentially making the process more efficient and accessible for applicants.
