The recent changes to Bill SB 1470 allow school districts in Illinois to use remote learning days to replace emergency days in their school calendars. This amendment specifies that a district can use up to five remote learning days per year, but these must be approved by the district superintendent and outlined in a detailed plan. This is important because it provides flexibility for schools to maintain educational continuity during unforeseen circumstances, such as emergencies or if a school is used as a polling place.
