Plain-language change summary

The amendments to HB 2719 introduce a new requirement for high school graduation in Illinois: starting with the 2020-2021 school year, students must either file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or submit a waiver confirming they understand the application process but choose not to apply. This change is important because it encourages students to explore financial aid options, which can help make college more accessible. Additionally, some parts of the original bill regarding the composition of a board for higher education faculty were removed, likely to streamline the focus of the legislation.
