Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Bill HB 306 clarifies the rules around students opting out of State assessments. It specifies that no negative consequences, such as poor grades or evaluations, should be imposed on students, schools, or educators when a student is excused from taking these assessments. Additionally, the bill ensures that students opting out will be provided with supervised learning opportunities during the testing time. This change is important because it protects students’ rights to opt out without fear of repercussions and ensures they still receive educational support while their peers are testing.
