What changed in the latest version
17 added · 38 removedPlain-language change summary
The updated version of Bill SB 3177 includes provisions that require drivers approaching a disabled vehicle on a multi-lane highway to either change lanes, if safe, or reduce their speed if changing lanes isn't possible. Previously, violating this rule was classified as a business offense with a $100 fine, but now it's categorized as a petty offense, which may carry different implications for enforcement and penalties. This change aims to enhance safety for both drivers and disabled vehicle occupants by increasing cautious driving behavior around disabled vehicles.
