The amendment to SB 826 clarifies the procedures for county commissions in West Virginia regarding how they can manage funds that exceed federal insurance limits. The revised bill allows these commissions to use a deposit placement program under specific conditions, and it updates the types of securities they can accept instead of having to secure funds with a bond. These changes are important because they give county commissions more flexibility in handling their finances and can potentially lead to better use of public funds while ensuring security.
