Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 712 lowers the minimum age requirement for applicants to join the State Police from 21 to 18 years old. This change aims to allow younger individuals to enter the force, potentially increasing the number of recruits. Additionally, the bill emphasizes the importance of recruiting from diverse backgrounds, requiring an annual report on efforts to attract female and minority candidates. This focus on diversity in recruitment is significant as it promotes a more representative and inclusive police force.
