Plain-language change summary

The latest amendment to Bill HB 1410 transitions the responsibility for establishing and operating the Weigh Station Preclearance Program from the Department of Transportation to the Pennsylvania State Police. This change is significant as it centralizes enforcement and oversight under law enforcement, which could enhance the consistency and effectiveness of weight and safety inspections for commercial vehicles. Additionally, the amendment streamlines language around the preclearance system and clarifies the roles involved, potentially leading to improved operations in the program.
