The bill requires the inclusion of Harriet Tubman's likeness on $20 Federal Reserve notes beginning after December 31, 2030.

  • 12 U.S.C. 418

The Secretary of the Treasury shall ensure that the face of all $20 Federal reserve notes printed after December 31, 2030, shall bear the likeness of Harriet Tubman, except that the Secretary may delay such date by not more than 2 years if the Secretary submits to the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs of the Senate and the Committee on Financial Services of the House of Representatives a determination, after consultation with the Director of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the Board, and the Director of the United States Secret Service, that issuing such notes after December 31, 2030, would create an unacceptable risk of counterfeiting or to the safe, secure, and speedy functioning of the United States economy.

This change mandates the redesign of $20 Federal Reserve notes to include Harriet Tubman's likeness and sets a timeline for implementation.
