Plain-language change summary

The recent changes to Bill SB 1697 modify the powers of the Suburban Bus Board by allowing it to cooperate with the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) and receive funds from them under specific conditions. This is important because it enhances collaboration and funding opportunities between these transportation entities, potentially leading to better public transportation services for the community. Additionally, the bill removes prior provisions related to the RTA’s ability to engage in various financial contracts for fuel risk management, streamlining its operations.
