Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 1908 now includes specific criteria that allow police applicants to have the educational requirements waived if they have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. For those with an associate's degree requirement, the waiver can apply after 24 months of honorable active duty, while for a bachelor's degree, the requirement can be waived after 36 months of service. Additionally, shorter service in combat duty may also qualify for the waiver. This change is significant because it broadens the pool of potential candidates for police positions, recognizing the career experience of veterans and making it easier for them to serve in law enforcement.
