Plain-language change summary

The updated version of SB 535 extends the expiration date of rebuttable presumptions for specific health conditions, like leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, that professional firefighters may develop due to their job. This change is crucial because it helps ensure that firefighters who are affected by these serious diseases can have their cases considered as work-related injuries for a longer time, thereby providing them with greater protection and access to benefits. The previous version had proposed to remove these expiration dates, but the current amendment maintains them, reflecting ongoing support for employee health in high-risk professions.
