The latest version of Bill SB 508 includes updates to how electronic records are preserved and the fees for filing documents with the county clerk. Specifically, it clarifies that records must be stored in formats that protect them from being changed or destroyed, which is important for maintaining accurate public records. Additionally, it raises the fee for filing documents, allowing county clerks to charge up to $2 for documents that are less than 20 pages, which could help support public records management initiatives. These changes aim to enhance the integrity and accessibility of public records in West Virginia.
